Dr Sarah Bailey is Head of Pharmacology Group and a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology at the University of Bath. Dr Bailey’s research is investigating how the brain responds to stress, the role of opioid receptors in stress responses, and targeting opioid receptors as potential antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs. Separately, Dr Bailey has championed openness on animal research throughout her career, working closely with Understanding Animal Research, both within and outwith her institution. She has also contributed to policy development in this area and representing animal researchers on behalf of the Society at the Royal Society’s Animal Science Group for example. Dr Bailey has also contributed to the work of the British Pharmacological Society serving on the Education and Training Committee, the Animal Welfare and In Vivo Pharmacology Group, and is currently Vice President for Engagement. She is also an Editor for the British Journal of Pharmacology.
